About the position

The Inventory Manager at CJ Logistics is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing supervisors, analysts, and clerks in the areas of inventory control, quality assurance, and continuous improvement across a network of distribution centers. This position requires a hands-on approach, as the Inventory Manager will spend a significant amount of time collaborating with operations teams to implement continuous improvement tools and techniques aimed at enhancing processes, reducing costs, and achieving production and quality objectives. The role is integral to ensuring that the logistics center operates efficiently and effectively, aligning with the overall operational capacity plan set in collaboration with the General Manager. In this capacity, the Inventory Manager will act as a liaison with engineering teams to manage the execution of zoning, layout, and pick-lines, ensuring that inventory management practices are adhered to and optimized. The position also involves utilizing data and forecasts to identify opportunities for change and evaluate adherence to leading practices. The Inventory Manager will participate in and support safety programs and committee activities, ensuring compliance with all inventory control and quality management practices across the network. This includes establishing and managing food safety, sanitation, and regulatory programs, as well as overseeing audits, inspections, and customer-specific requirements. The Inventory Manager will be responsible for analyzing and managing labor expenses, including performance data, and will lead a team of supervisors, analysts, and clerks to deliver results that meet customer expectations. Regular team meetings will be conducted to develop employees and hold them accountable for their performance. A strong emphasis will be placed on driving a culture of continuous improvement to achieve both company and customer business objectives. The role also requires evaluating leading practices for improvement and executing appropriate visual management for metrics achievement, all while managing the Continuous Improvement Program and holding employees accountable for their performance.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the General Manager to set overall operational capacity plan for logistics center, including production plans, staffing plans, stretch goals, schedules, and MHE allocations.
  • Act as liaison with engineering; manage execution of zoning, layout, and pick-lines.
  • Manage Inventory and utilize data and forecasts to identify opportunities for change; evaluate adherence to leading practices.
  • Participate in and support safety programs and safety committee activities.
  • Ensure compliance and improvement of all Inventory Control and Quality Management practices across the network.
  • Establish and manage food safety, sanitation, and regulatory programs.
  • Manage the execution and communication of all audits, inspections, customer-specific requirements and policy deviations.
  • Ensure the team is reinforcing compliance to quality practices through sustained adherence to management reviews, audits, documentation, and CAPAs.
  • Support management reviews, quality continuous improvement, and quality planning as part of overall customer network goals.
  • Analyze and manage labor expense, including performance data.
  • Manage supervisors, analysts, and clerks to ensure that they are delivering results for the customer.
  • Connect Operations Optimization team members to CJ Logistics and Customer's business objectives.
  • Conduct regular team meetings.
  • Develop employees and hold them accountable for performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement culture to achieve company and customer business objectives.
  • Evaluate Leading Practices for improvement, including network-wide recommendations.
  • Execute appropriate visual management for metrics achievement.
  • Management of the Continuous Improvement Program.
  • Hold employees accountable for performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2 or more years of experience in Operations and/or experience in Lean Six Sigma or equivalent methodologies
  • 5+ years of operations management experience with a focus on inventory control
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Proven ability to analyze data and provide recommendations based on analysis
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Experience with project management concepts and techniques
  • Certifications in Continuous Improvement, Lean and/or Six Sigma
