The Inventory Manager is accountable for the Market Center’s product inventory, purchasing, receiving, warehouse processes, and distribution of product through the execution of standard operational policies and procedures. This role involves leading the warehouse team by coordinating, coaching, and providing performance management to ensure that the team meets its objectives. The Inventory Manager is responsible for achieving financial objectives by managing key metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement, and developing action plans accordingly. Additionally, this position ensures that prompt, pleasant, and complete service is provided to both internal and external contacts needing products or information. Safety leadership is also a critical component of this role, as the Inventory Manager must support and implement safety protocols within the Market Center. In terms of responsibilities, the Inventory Manager participates in the budget process, manages key metrics, and identifies opportunities for improvement. They procure products by setting a purchasing schedule, coordinating with vendors, and utilizing the warehouse ordering tool to create purchase orders. Maintaining the warehouse system to reflect accurate par levels of product and inventory levels is essential, as is implementing food safety requirements through First-in, First-out (FIFO) product rotation. The Inventory Manager controls inventory levels and product costs by conducting weekly physical counts and collaborating with the Finance Manager to resolve any discrepancies in inventory. The role also requires optimizing inventory by analyzing trends and improving key product metrics such as product days-on-hand and client fill rate metrics. Effective communication with affected managers and front-line personnel regarding product changes is crucial, as is maintaining communication with vendors to ensure timely delivery of products and equipment. The Inventory Manager leads the warehouse workforce in receiving, stocking, rotating, and pulling products while ensuring that all work is completed safely. They participate in the hiring process for the warehouse team and are responsible for training, coaching, and performance management of team members. Monitoring workflow and ensuring proper inventories are pulled for daily routes is also part of the job, along with supervising the completion of all daily warehouse work. The Inventory Manager models and leads the Service STARS culture and safety leadership, fostering effective communication at all levels of the organization.
