About the position

The Inventory Manager at L3Harris is responsible for overseeing and managing all activities related to inventory control, shipping and receiving, storage, and traffic analysis of materials or finished goods. This role requires a seasoned Material Management professional who possesses practical knowledge and experience in managing Government Property, inventory control, cycle counting programs, and logistics. The ideal candidate will be expected to lead the Inventory Management & Logistics teams with minimal supervision, ensuring that all operations run smoothly and efficiently. In this position, the Inventory Manager will establish and modify operational methods and procedures to optimize inventory levels and positioning. They will analyze planned production and take immediate actions in situations where stock is low or out-of-stock. The manager will ensure that materials are received from the correct vendors, delivered to inventory and finished goods, packaged according to specifications, and shipped in a timely manner. They will also be responsible for coordinating and consolidating domestic and international systems to support shipments, interpreting laws and regulations regarding shipping, and preparing applications for import/export control certifications and licenses. The Inventory Manager will supervise a team of 3-5 direct reports, communicating effectively with parties both inside and outside their department to explain and interpret policies, practices, and procedures. They will make moderate improvements to processes and systems, plan and establish operational objectives for their team, and assign tasks while providing training and peer reviews. Additionally, the manager will manage and control all Government and Customer-owned property, ensuring compliance with ISO procedures and proper documentation for tracking systems.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, control, and manage activities related to inventory control, shipping/receiving, storing, and traffic analysis of materials or finished goods.
  • Establish and modify operational methods and procedures to optimize inventory management.
  • Analyze inventory levels, inventory positioning, and planned production.
  • Initiate immediate actions in out-of-stock situations to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Ensure materials are received from proper vendors, delivered to inventory and finished goods, packaged according to specifications, and shipped in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate and consolidate domestic and international systems to support shipments.
  • Interpret laws, rules, and regulations regarding shipping and prepare applications for import/export control certifications and licenses.
  • Supervise lower-level professionals or supervisors and/or higher-level support, managing a team of 3-5 direct reports.
  • Communicate with parties inside and outside of own department to explain and interpret policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Make moderate improvements to processes, systems, and solutions, planning and establishing operational objectives for a team with moderate impact on department results.
  • Assign tasks, conduct peer reviews, and provide training to team members.
  • Manage and control all Government and Customer-owned property, ensuring compliance with ISO procedures and proper documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 4 years prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree with a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems, specifically SAP S/4 Hana.
  • Proficient in the full MS Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and Excel, with intermediate Excel skills.
  • Familiarity with ITAR regulations as it relates to the movement of materials and foreign shipments.
  • Good housekeeping and 5S practices.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
