About the position

The Inventory Manager at Yokohama Tire Corporation is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the Inventory team and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of all inventory within the Distribution Center. This position requires a proactive approach to managing inventory processes, including the cycle count process, and necessitates a close partnership with the Operations Team to drive continuous improvement in warehouse practices. The Inventory Manager will play a crucial role in maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring compliance with auditor expectations, and facilitating yearly physical inventory counts. This role demands effective communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail. In this position, the Inventory Manager will oversee and instruct team members on the daily cycle count process, aiming to maintain total inventory variance below 1%. The role also involves cross-training team members and providing leadership within the Distribution Center. The Inventory Manager will be responsible for overseeing inbound receivers, investigating and resolving receiving discrepancies, and maintaining accurate records. Additionally, the manager will ensure compliance with FIFO (First In, First Out) practices for all products, manage part number UOM (Unit of Measure), and optimize product put-away zones to maximize inventory consolidation. The Inventory Manager will also be responsible for responding to Quality Hold alerts, tracking mislabeled products, and creating and monitoring inventory adjustment requests. This role requires a strong understanding of financial impacts related to inventory management and the ability to interact professionally with other employees and external customers. The position is essential for maintaining the operational efficiency of the Distribution Center and ensuring that inventory management practices align with corporate standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and instruct others regarding the daily cycle count process and maintain total inventory variance below 1%.
  • Cross train and take on additional leadership responsibilities within the Distribution Center.
  • Overlap shifts to provide training and coverage as needed.
  • Oversee inbound receivers and reconciliation process.
  • Investigate and resolve receiving discrepancies, request adjustments, and maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy, location accuracy, and maintain FIFO of all products.
  • Maintain part number UOM, product put-away zones, and capacity management to maximize inventory consolidation.
  • Respond to Quality Hold alerts and ensure QA hold tires are identified and handled correctly.
  • Track and report mislabeled product to management in a timely manner.
  • Create and monitor completion of inventory adjustment requests.
  • Oversee put away of all return tires and ensure paperwork completion.
  • Ensure compliance with all auditor expectations, including yearly Physical Inventory facilitation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years in supply chain or a distribution center environment.
  • At least 3 years of inventory experience required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including intermediate proficiency in Excel.
  • Experience with SAP Warehouse Management (WM) is a plus.
  • Effective communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Proficient math skills and knowledge of financial impacts of inventory management.
  • Ability to plan and manage multiple projects with attention to detail.
  • Strong team player with the ability to interact professionally with other employees.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Understanding of container scheduling and freight shipping and receiving processes.
