About the position

The Inventory Optimization Manager is a key role responsible for overseeing all aspects of inventory management within the organization. This position focuses on demand forecasting, inventory replenishment, safety stock management, and scrapping to maintain healthy inventory levels and minimize backorders. The role requires strong analytical skills, leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of inventory optimization best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to ensure optimal stock levels while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Develop an Inventory Management Strategy in collaboration with the third-party logistics company (3PL) to bring inventory management functionality back in-house by 2026.
  • Collaborate with purchasing, logistics, and warehouse teams to streamline inventory processes and improve efficiency.
  • Forecast demand and coordinate with sales and production teams to ensure adequate inventory levels to meet customer demand.
  • Develop and maintain inventory policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings within the inventory management function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in optimizing inventory, with a track record of successfully managing large-scale inventories.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in inventory management software and ERP systems.
  • Proven experience in ERP upgrades.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Leadership and team-building skills, with experience in managing and developing a team of inventory control professionals.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and present findings to senior management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the Service Parts industry, specifically related to any type of vehicle, machinery or industrial equipment.
  • Experience with Inventory Management in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Certification in Inventory Management (e.g., CPIM) is highly desirable.
  • Basic SQL knowledge and querying.
