About the position

As the Inventory & Production Planning Manager at Roll Forming Corporation, you will play a pivotal role in supporting operations by leading the inventory, production planning, scheduling, and warehouse functions. This position requires an excellent communicator and leader who can effectively interface with customers, production planning, purchasing, production, and engineering teams to ensure alignment with sales objectives. You will be responsible for implementing and utilizing Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems, leveraging customer forecast data, and maintaining production schedules to meet customer demands efficiently. In this role, you will provide support and direction to the inventory, production planning, scheduling, and warehouse team members. You will ensure that the safest, most effective, and efficient processes are followed throughout the organization. As the primary source for customer analysis and resource/capacity planning, you will monitor all scheduling and on-time delivery metrics to maintain a balance between customer demand and resource scheduling. Your leadership will be crucial in supervising and developing the production planning and scheduling employees, as well as supporting the shipping and receiving supervisor and warehouse team. Your essential duties will include maintaining plant capacity planning, overseeing the master schedule, and ensuring that production control plans for plant part streams are effectively communicated. You will also oversee inventory levels of raw materials, finished goods, and all purchased components to ensure acceptable inventory turn levels while maintaining product availability for customers. Additionally, you will be responsible for the effective scheduling of production resources, ensuring adherence to ISO procedures, and promoting a culture of safety within the workplace. Participation in the RFC Continuous Improvement Program will also be part of your responsibilities, as you strive to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and develop Production Planning and Scheduling employees.
  • Support shipping & receiving supervisor and warehouse team.
  • Ensure customer service team maintains positive relationships with external customers and internal teams through effective communication.
  • Maintain plant capacity planning and oversee master schedule and production control plans of plant part streams.
  • Effectively communicate schedule requirements, manufacturing status, and necessary changes with internal management team.
  • Oversee inventory levels of raw material, finished goods, and all purchased components to ensure acceptable inventory turn levels and product availability.
  • Ensure proper work order generation and timely closure of completed work orders by collaborating with production supervisors.
  • Monitor inventories to maintain minimal levels while providing on-time customer deliveries.
  • Schedule production resources (equipment and manpower) to maximize throughput and ensure production efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to ISO procedures and safety regulations.
  • Support and backup location's sales initiatives as needed.
  • Participate in the RFC Continuous Improvement Program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and experience; in lieu of degree, a High School Diploma and 10 years of related management experience/training can be considered.
  • Five or more years of related business experience, with at least one to two years in scheduling, planning, and development.
  • Understanding of material planning, capacity planning, and purchasing in a make-to-order, make-to-stock, and engineer-to-order environment.
  • Prior experience with EDI (830 forecasts, 862s).
  • Proficient in computer systems, including Microsoft Office with strong Excel spreadsheet knowledge, and ERP systems utilizing MRP and production scheduling (SAP, Visual, Global Shop or similar).
  • Experience with scheduling manufacturing resources in a JIT or Lean environment.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • US Person as defined by ITAR & EAR.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
  • Experience with production planning, inventory management, managing warehouse logistics team, clerical skills, data entry, and report development from ERP using Excel and other tools.
