About the position

The Inventory Specialist at Walgreens is responsible for executing and monitoring inventory best practices and standard operating procedures across the store, including both the front end and pharmacy. This role supports pharmacy inventory management activities, ensures on-shelf availability, and maintains accurate inventory counts while engaging with customers to enhance their experience. The position also involves training team members, managing inventory records, and complying with state and local laws regarding regulated products.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and monitor inventory best practices and standard operating procedures for the store.
  • Support pharmacy inventory management activities including receiving, counting, ordering, and facilitating returns.
  • Champion on-shelf availability and manage all in-store inventory processes.
  • Review and coordinate the proper use of reports and system applications affecting inventory accuracy.
  • Execute and maintain asset protection techniques and file claims for inventory discrepancies.
  • Open and close the store in the absence of management, handling cash and ensuring readiness for business.
  • Engage customers by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with team members.
  • Coach team members on warehouse and vendor inventory management processes.
  • Scan deliveries and manage inventory counts accurately.
  • Verify pharmacy shipments and complete postings for products received.
  • Complete pricing activities including price changes and markdowns.
  • Support front end and pharmacy ordering processes and maintain consigned inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory records and preparing for physical inventory activities.
  • Support package delivery activities and execute the Pickup Program.
  • Communicate assigned tasks to team members and report issues to management.

Requirements

  • Six months of prior work experience with Walgreens or one year of prior retail work experience.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Experience in identifying operational issues and recommending solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience as a shift lead, pharmacy technician, designated hitter, or customer service associate.
  • Prior work experience with Walgreens, with an evaluation on file.
