About the position

The Investigative Analyst position within the U.S. Department of State's Office of Inspector General (OIG) is responsible for overseeing investigations related to financial and procurement fraud, as well as public corruption. The role involves conducting complex analyses of financial data to identify criminal activity patterns and trends, and providing technical training to investigative personnel. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring accountability and integrity within the Department's operations.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and develop major financial and procurement fraud investigations.
  • Conduct complex analysis of bank records, financial statements, and various transactions.
  • Identify trends and establish patterns of criminal activity.
  • Trace the source, destination, and use of funds linking related entities.
  • Perform subject identification, link analysis, and intelligence data summarization.
  • Draft reports in support of investigations.
  • Develop and provide technical training to investigative analysts and personnel.
  • Identify, plan, and present training on various Department information systems.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to the Department of Treasury and FinCEN.
  • Conduct research and analysis of FinCEN requests for assistance.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service.
  • Experience conducting complex investigative analysis of major financial crimes.
  • Experience utilizing Department systems of record to trace the flow of Department funds.
  • Experience collecting, organizing, and analyzing information related to complex investigations.
  • Experience developing and providing technical training to investigative personnel.
