About the position

The Investigator in the Office of Internal Investigations and Accountability is responsible for conducting background and internal affairs investigations for the City of Boynton Beach. This part-time role involves working under the supervision of the Director and requires a thorough understanding of investigative methods, interviewing techniques, and relevant laws. The position is critical in ensuring accountability and compliance within the city's workforce by investigating allegations of misconduct and preparing detailed reports on findings.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations into allegations of improper conduct of employees.
• Investigate complex workplace investigations involving EEO laws and civil rights complaints.
• Interview witnesses, suspects, and victims to gather relevant information.
• Prepare and maintain complete records of each case being investigated.
• Obtain and review records from various law enforcement agencies as needed.
• Work with the City Attorney's Office and other external investigative agencies.
• Prepare detailed interview statements for each person interviewed.
• Organize all investigative material according to established procedures.
• Analyze investigation patterns to identify potential systemic issues.
• Meet regularly with the Director to update on investigation statuses.
• Prepare summaries of adverse information based on collected evidence.
• Complete thorough investigation packages for review.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in public administration, business administration, accounting, criminal justice, psychology, or related field.
• Two years of law enforcement or investigative work experience.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Valid Florida Driver's License.
