About The Position

Requirements

• Prior professional experience in investigations, preferably as a former police or law enforcement officer (not from Cincinnati Police Department).
• Knowledge of investigative procedures, interviewing skills, and city ordinances related to serious misconduct.
• Ability to analyze complex legal information and communicate findings clearly in writing.

Responsibilities

• Investigate citizen complaints against employees of the Cincinnati Police Department.
• Generate comprehensive reports presenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
• Provide staff assistance to the Executive Director of the Citizen Complaint Authority.
• Conduct legal research related to investigations and prepare analytical reports.
• Gather relevant documentation and evidence, including photographic evidence.
• Interview complainants, investigatory targets, and witnesses for relevant information.
• Maintain confidentiality during investigations and interact professionally with stakeholders.
• Audit Police Department internal investigative reports generated by CCA referrals.
• Respond to incidents involving gunfire by Cincinnati Police Officers, serving on call 24/7.
