About the position

The Investment Accountant role is a newly created position within the Investment Controllership team at MassMutual. This position is responsible for ensuring the timely and efficient reporting of investment results, collaborating across teams to drive process improvements, and providing meaningful financial analysis. The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a dynamic accounting environment, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the financial controllership team.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles.
• Create or review, analyze, and present monthly financial analysis reports to senior management.
• Perform or review reconciliations of investment data for ledger tie outs.
• Review periodic journal entries and analyze financial reports for trends and impacts to investment values and P&L activity.
• Support annual regulatory financial statement audit requests and participate in auditor discussions.
• Identify and implement accounting improvements to increase business value and efficiency.
• Lead continuous improvement activities within the Securities team.
• Make recommendations to improve the overall control environment of the securities team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related major.
• 6+ years of related work experience with increasing responsibility.
• 6+ years knowledge and experience of U.S. GAAP.

Nice-to-haves

• STAT experience is strongly preferred.
• CPA or CFA certification.
• Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Knowledge and experience of investments.
• Experience with system implementations.
