About the position

The Investment Accounting Manager at The Standard is responsible for managing a professional team to ensure timely and accurate financial accounting, reporting, and analysis in compliance with GAAP and statutory reporting requirements. This role emphasizes the development and maintenance of internal controls and procedures over investment accounting, while also providing strategic oversight and leadership to the accounting team.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of investment accounting and reporting to ensure compliance with GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP).
• Review investment accounting work papers and reports for completeness and accuracy, ensuring all regulatory reporting requests are met.
• Oversee daily separate account valuation, accounting, and reporting functions.
• Develop staff to research and comply with GAAP and SAP, maintaining a strong internal control environment.
• Design and produce meaningful and accurate financial accounting reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred.
• 7 to 10 years of progressively responsible experience in financial accounting and reporting, including supervisory experience.
• Professional certification such as CPA, CMA, or CIA preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in investment accounting and reporting for bonds, mortgages, derivatives, and other invested assets.
