About the position

The Investment Analyst role at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is a three-year program designed for early-career professionals to gain comprehensive exposure to endowment management and investing. This position is integral to TNC's Office of Investments, which manages over $4 billion in capital to support global conservation priorities. Analysts will engage in various investment-related activities, including due diligence, performance monitoring, and operational responsibilities, preparing them for future career opportunities in asset management or further education.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in sourcing new investment managers through database screens and reviewing materials from prospective managers.
  • Assist with investment due diligence by participating in calls and meetings and conducting qualitative and quantitative research on managers.
  • Prepare investment recommendations for presentation to the Investment Committee.
  • Review investment reports and letters from managers and monitor markets for potential implications on the portfolio.
  • Contribute to operational processes related to investments, portfolio reconciliation, data collection, and reporting.
  • Provide project management support and prepare communication materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Evaluate portfolio alignment with TNC's mission, including analysis of ESG and Impact investments.
  • Attend relevant meetings and industry conferences, traveling as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination.
  • Exposure to investment principles and strategies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to high-quality work.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Problem-solving, analytical, and quantitative skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Affinity for The Nature Conservancy's mission in global land and water conservation.
  • Experience in data manipulation, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Multi-lingual skills and/or multi-cultural experience.
