About the position
The Investment Associate role at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (OTPP) involves supporting the North American direct investments team within Teachers' Venture Growth (TVG). This position is crucial in all aspects of the investment process, including origination, deal execution, due diligence, and portfolio monitoring. The associate will work collaboratively across teams to align with OTPP's mission of delivering retirement income while investing in high-growth technology companies.
Responsibilities
- Develop investment theses and create memos for the investment committee
- Perform financial modelling and analysis including projections, sensitivity analysis, valuations, and returns
- Drive sector research to identify investment targets and conduct competitive analysis
- Evaluate and monitor the ongoing performance of portfolio company investments
- Develop and maintain relationships with startups, entrepreneurs, investment professionals, and service providers to facilitate deal sourcing
- Support ongoing strategic initiatives and reporting requirements
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree
- Minimum 2 years of investment or deal experience (investment banking, private equity, VC, hedge fund, management consulting)
- Mastery in financial modelling, valuation, and quantitative analysis
- Strong work ethic, team mindset, communication & presentation skills
- Ability to operate independently with limited supervision
- High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
- Relevant experience and keen interest in start-ups and disruptive technologies
