About the position

The Investment Banker Analyst at Hilltop Securities will support the Housing Director in Austin, TX, focusing on affordable housing development and operations. This role involves analysis, client management, and collaboration with various departments to ensure effective program administration and client satisfaction. The Analyst will also engage in client communications and presentations, contributing to the overall success of housing finance initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the day-to-day management and operation of affordable housing operations in Austin, Texas.
  • Communicate and collaborate daily with the Housing Director to meet client needs.
  • Understand and learn financing concepts related to affordable single-family and multifamily programs/projects.
  • Familiarize with Federal Housing Administration (FHA), Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac affordable lending products.
  • Master DBC Housing and Finance programs, as well as Bloomberg and TradeWeb programs.
  • Review and mark up legal documents related to client transactions.
  • Work closely with various departments such as Arbitrage Rebate, Structured Finance, Accounting, and Compliance.
  • Make oral presentations to Housing Finance Corporation (HFC) Board of Directors and participate in panel discussions at industry events.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in accounting, finance, or business management preferred.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a banking, accounting, or municipal securities environment providing operational support and data analysis.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred; prior experience with Bloomberg, TradeWeb, and DBC Finance and Housing is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a municipal securities environment preferred.
  • Self-starter with the ability to plan daily routines, work efficiently, and meet deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with individuals from varied backgrounds.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with municipal clients and industry colleagues.
  • Successful passage of Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board examinations: Series 52 (or Series 7), 50 & 63 within a 12-month period.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Bloomberg and TradeWeb programs.
  • Prior working experience in a municipal securities environment.
