About the position

As a Director (VP) in the Leveraged Finance team at UBS, you will play a pivotal role in leading all phases of the deal process. This includes conducting thorough due diligence, developing financial models, and drafting internal credit memos, as well as preparing presentations for rating agencies and investors. You will be responsible for assessing and analyzing credit risk, acting as the first line of defense, and presenting your recommendations to the credit committee. Your role will also involve leading client negotiations, managing the Q&A process, and conducting management interviews to ensure a comprehensive understanding of client needs and expectations. In addition to client-facing responsibilities, you will support syndication efforts for credit transactions, collaborating with internal partners in credit risk control to assess risk positions effectively. You will oversee and manage junior workstreams throughout the deal cycle, from the initial pitch to the marketing and execution of opportunities. Your support will extend to senior investment bankers in originating opportunities across the Corporate and Private Equity landscape, ensuring that all transactions are executed smoothly and efficiently. You will also liaise with various internal and external parties involved in transactions, including lawyers, accountants, and counterparties, to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration. A key aspect of your role will be to manage and support the development of junior investment bankers, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the team. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction of the Leveraged Finance team while driving innovative solutions for our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all phases of the deal process including due diligence, financial modelling, and drafting internal credit memos.
  • Assess and analyze credit risk as the first line of defense and present recommendations to the credit committee.
  • Lead client negotiations, Q&A process, and management interviews.
  • Support syndication efforts of credit transactions to market.
  • Work with internal partners in credit risk control to assess risk positions.
  • Review and manage junior workstreams across the deal cycle from origination to execution.
  • Support efforts of senior investment bankers in the origination of opportunities across the Corporate and Private Equity landscape.
  • Liaise with other internal and external parties on transactions, including lawyers and accountants.
  • Manage and support the development of junior investment bankers.

Requirements

  • Good understanding and hands-on exposure to assessing credit risk.
  • Experience working within credit risk control or leveraged finance in investment banking is ideal.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Solid financial analysis skills, with the ability to produce accurate presentation material quickly.
  • Ability to partner with other groups across the bank.
