About the position

The Investment Management Finance Controller role at Morgan Stanley involves providing support to the Investment Management segment, focusing on accounting, finance, and process transformation. The successful candidate will be part of the Investment Accounting Team in New York City, responsible for managing financial results, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and maintaining strong internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Work with product controllers to record financial results.
  • Support management in assessing the accounting treatment for proposed transactions.
  • Assist the investment accounting team with daily, monthly, and quarterly reporting responsibilities, including preparing quarterly financial statements and disclosures for SEC filings.
  • Ensure timely close of business unit ledgers and maintain strong internal controls.
  • Manage product control month-end closes.
  • Review transactions and related accounting impacts, including consolidation and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly and quarterly business unit fluctuation analysis and internal financial reports for senior management.

Requirements

  • 5 years of work experience.
  • Proficient in using accounting systems.
  • Experience working with large institutions is preferred.
  • Accounting experience in Investment Management is desired.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ambitious, self-motivated, with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong partnership skills to interact across different support groups.
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
