About the position

Hogan Lovells US LLP is seeking a patent agent or associate with a focus on life sciences patent preparation and prosecution. This role is integral to the Intellectual Property practice and requires a strong academic background in relevant scientific fields, along with excellent writing skills. The position is available in multiple office locations including Boston, Houston, Louisville, and Washington D.C.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and prosecute life sciences patent applications.
• Conduct patentability assessments and freedom-to-operate analyses.
• Draft legal documents and correspondence related to patent applications.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their inventions and provide strategic advice.
• Stay updated on relevant patent laws and regulations.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in life sciences patent preparation and prosecution.
• An advanced degree in chemistry, molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, chemical engineering, or a related field (Ph.D. preferred).
• Excellent writing skills and strong academic credentials.
• A law degree from an ABA-accredited law school and membership in the Bar in the United States.
