About the position

The IP Protection Manager will play a critical role in overseeing the compliance of all intellectual property (IP) and technical information transferred from Honeywell to an external joint venture. This position requires a strong focus on ensuring that both the Joint Venture and its employees adhere to the decisions made by the Patent Committee or Honeywell. The manager will be responsible for the development of research and development (R&D) programs that support the maintenance of the High-tech Enterprise Certification status of the Joint Venture. Regular and systematic evaluations of the operating results of the technology organization will be a key part of this role, ensuring that the organization meets its strategic goals and objectives. In addition to these responsibilities, the IP Protection Manager will lead and manage a highly-skilled technology team dedicated to all R&D programs. This includes fostering an environment of innovation and creativity, where breakthrough ideas can flourish. The manager will also assist the Deputy General Manager of the Joint Venture in matters related to intellectual property protection, ensuring that all aspects of IP are handled with the utmost care and compliance. Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary, reflecting the dynamic nature of the role and the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee compliance of all IP and technical information transferred from Honeywell to an external joint venture.
  • Ensure Joint Venture and Joint Venture employee compliance with decisions of the Patent Committee or Honeywell.
  • Oversee development of R&D programs to maintain High-tech Enterprise Certification status of the Joint Venture.
  • Perform regular and systematic evaluation of the operating results of the technology organization.
  • Lead and manage a highly-skilled technology team for all R&D programs.
  • Assist the Deputy General Manager of the JV in intellectual property protection related matters.
  • Generate breakthrough ideas for technology development and product innovation.
  • Plan and execute R&D initiatives effectively.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and change management within the team.

Requirements

  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience leading technical organizations with a strong understanding of IP.
  • Bilingual (English and Chinese) is mandatory.

Nice-to-haves

  • Deep technical understanding of Fluorine Chemistry and Process technology strongly preferred.
  • Extensive product and technology development experience.
  • Extensive engineering leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated skills in negotiating and project planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change.
  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Ability to work well in a cross-functional, strongly matrixed environment.
  • Self-motivated leader with excellent prioritization skills.
  • An eye for the larger picture and bringing new innovations.
