About the position

The IP Protection Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing the compliance of all intellectual property (IP) and technical information transferred from Honeywell to an external joint venture. This position requires ensuring that both the joint venture and its employees adhere to the decisions made by the Patent Committee or Honeywell. The manager will also be responsible for the development of research and development (R&D) programs that support the maintenance of the High-tech Enterprise Certification status of the joint venture. Regular and systematic evaluations of the operating results of the technology organization will be part of the responsibilities, along with leading and managing a highly-skilled technology team dedicated to all R&D programs. Additionally, the IP Protection Manager will assist the Deputy General Manager of the joint venture in matters related to intellectual property protection and will take on other responsibilities as determined by the management. Key responsibilities include generating breakthrough ideas, planning R&D initiatives, leading technology development, providing design leadership, managing people, overseeing product development, fostering an innovation mindset, coaching leaders, and managing change effectively. The role demands a strong understanding of compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, as the candidate must be a U.S. Person, defined as a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or someone with protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status, or the ability to obtain export authorization.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee compliance of all IP and technical information transferred from Honeywell to an external joint venture.
  • Ensure joint venture and employee compliance with decisions of the Patent Committee or Honeywell.
  • Develop R&D programs to maintain High-tech Enterprise Certification status of the joint venture.

Requirements

  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience leading technical organizations with a strong understanding of IP.
  • Bilingual in English and Chinese is mandatory.
  • Deep technical understanding of Fluorine Chemistry and Process technology is strongly preferred.
  • Extensive product and technology development experience.
  • Extensive engineering leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated skills in negotiating and project planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change.
  • Master's degree in Engineering is valued.
  • Ability to work well in a cross-functional, strongly matrixed environment.
  • Self-motivated leader with excellent prioritization skills.
  • An eye for the larger picture and bringing new innovations.
