About the position

The IPS Specialist plays a crucial role within a multidisciplinary treatment team, providing supportive employment services to clients with severe mental illness and co-occurring disorders. This position focuses on vocational rehabilitation, helping clients secure and retain employment while promoting recovery and overall wellness.

Responsibilities

  • Participates as part of a multidisciplinary team providing services for vocational rehabilitation.
  • Completes assessments to help with recreational or social activities and/or job skills coaching and preparation.
  • Provides guidance and adaptive skills teaching to secure and retain employment, and referral to resources.
  • Conducts business with professionalism conducive to recovery from mental illness and overall wellness.
  • Provides supportive services for clients and arranges for the provision of services from community resources based on the case plan.
  • Participates in setting case plan goals/objectives and completes case plans with clients.
  • Assists clients in identifying strengths, needs, and realistic goals to develop a service plan.
  • Interviews clients and completes assessments and other clinical documentation.
  • Completes case logs on all client services and ensures that logs are entered into the electronic data management system.
  • Performs regular case maintenance activities including documenting actions, making narrative entries, and preparing necessary reports.
  • Consults with facility personnel and administrative field personnel; collects and analyzes data to identify needs for the assigned special services program.
  • Ascertains resources outside of Start when necessary to meet client's specific needs.
  • Maintains a clear driving record to drive company vehicles for client transportation.
  • Attends daily staff meetings and supervision.
  • Assists ACT team and ACT Coordinator with additional duties, oversight, or specific functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in social services field (required)
  • Master's Degree (preferred)
  • Minimum of 2 years of training or experience in vocational services, employment, or relevant social services (required)
  • Be over 18 years of age
  • Possess a valid Louisiana driver's license or Louisiana State ID (required)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Google Suite

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in teaching or training
  • Knowledge of behavioral health symptoms and interventions
