About the position

The Principal Project Engineer will oversee all phases of the development process, providing technical leadership and coordinating a multi-discipline team that includes Systems, Hardware, and Software Engineering, as well as Production, Supply Chain, and Quality Assurance. This role is crucial in ensuring that products are designed, developed, and delivered effectively to meet program lifecycle requirements while adhering to technical specifications and cost targets.

Responsibilities

  • Support all phases of the development process across multiple disciplines.
  • Develop project plans and maintain project schedules.
  • Monitor and measure project performance, including developing and recording Key Performance Measures (KPIs).
  • Perform cost and schedule measurement and review/update spend plans and staffing profiles.
  • Coordinate the development of Estimates at Complete (EAC).
  • Work with functional management to acquire, rotate, and size staff.
  • Provide technical leadership to design, develop, and deliver products.
  • Lead the resolution of technical challenges within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline or related field.
  • SECRET CLEARANCE is required.
  • Experience in Requirements Management, IV&V, and life cycle management of projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Teams, and Windows.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Project and scheduling practices.
  • Basic understanding of reading and comprehending drawings, specifications, and other technical information.
  • Proficiency in Earned Value Management (EVM).

Nice-to-haves

  • Technical leadership capabilities to manage issues throughout the development life cycle.
  • Experience managing traditional and Agile teams.
  • Experience creating/managing Backlogs in Azure DevOps or similar.
  • Proposal development experience.
  • Ability to build teams with diverse skill sets.
  • Proficiency using CREO or other CAD programs.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
