About the position

The Mental Health Practitioner position at Residential Services, Inc. (RSI) involves working within a 24/7 Residential Crisis Stabilization (RCS) and Intensive Residential Treatment Services (IRTS) team. The role focuses on developing and implementing treatment plans to support individuals experiencing psychiatric instability, promoting their emotional adjustment, and enhancing their independent living skills. This part-time position requires evening shifts and every other weekend, providing a compassionate and supportive environment for mental health recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Develop treatment plans, functional assessments, individual abuse prevention plans, level of care assessments, and discharge summaries.
  • Encourage consumer empowerment by promoting individual participation in support service development.
  • Provide mental illness symptom management and relapse prevention skills to service recipients.
  • Safely monitor and guide the activities of each person based on their behavioral and psychiatric stability.
  • Provide supervision, assistance, and training to meet the physical and personal needs of individuals receiving services.
  • Implement crisis prevention intervention and resolution techniques according to agency policies.
  • Administer and document medication accurately in accordance with RSI's policies.
  • Assist individuals with household responsibilities to achieve maximum independence.
  • Respond to the needs and interests of service recipients through proper assessment of services.
  • Complete thorough and accurate documentation within required time frames.
  • Attend trainings and meetings as required by RSI policy and licensing requirements.

Requirements

  • A valid driver's license with no restrictions.
  • At least 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral sciences or a related field and 2000 hours of experience with individuals with mental illness, substance use disorder, traumatic brain injury, or developmental disabilities; or
  • 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral sciences or a related field and completion of a practicum or internship focused on behavioral sciences; or
  • 4000 hours of experience in delivering services to individuals with mental illness, substance use disorder, traumatic brain injury, or developmental disabilities; or
  • 2000 hours of experience providing services to individuals with mental illness, substance use disorder, traumatic brain injury, or developmental disabilities with weekly treatment supervision until obtaining 4000 hours; or
  • A master's or other graduate degree in behavioral sciences or a related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in crisis intervention and stabilization.
  • Knowledge of mental health symptom management techniques.
  • Familiarity with documentation and reporting standards in mental health services.
