About the position

The IS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer II at CareOregon is a pivotal role responsible for managing, deploying, and maintaining secure cloud infrastructure solutions that align with the organization's business strategies. This mid-level position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for optimization and automation while maintaining a strong focus on security. The engineer will implement cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Ansible, adhering to corporate policies and best practices in DevOps. The role involves troubleshooting complex issues, leading projects, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring compliance with security policies. In terms of security design and development, the engineer will design, deploy, and maintain Terraform code to create and support complete cloud infrastructure systems and advanced Azure services. They will lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement complex infrastructure solutions that meet business needs. Additionally, the engineer will develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code modules and libraries to promote code reuse and standardization, while also mentoring junior team members in Terraform coding and DevOps pipeline development. The role also encompasses systems administration and operations, where the engineer will investigate and diagnose moderately advanced issues with cloud infrastructure resources and services, including application and network performance issues. They will collaborate with other teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues, configure and maintain virtual machines, databases, storage, and networking resources in the cloud, and implement solutions to monitor the health and performance of cloud infrastructure resources. Furthermore, the engineer will be responsible for standards and policy administration, continuously improving infrastructure processes and tools to increase efficiency and minimize errors. They will ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal security policies by implementing advanced security controls and practices. The role also includes vendor coordination and relations, where the engineer will conduct product and vendor research, establish effective working relationships with vendors, and maintain service contracts and licensing. Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy and maintain Terraform code to create and support complete cloud infrastructure systems and advanced Azure services.
  • Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement complex infrastructure solutions that meet business needs.
  • Design and maintain DevOps pipelines to automate the deployment and testing of infrastructure as code.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide updates on infrastructure projects.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code modules and libraries to promote code reuse and standardization.
  • Lead and mentor junior team members in Terraform coding and DevOps pipeline development.
  • Investigate and diagnose moderately advanced issues with cloud infrastructure resources and services, including application and network performance issues.
  • Collaborate with other teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Configure and maintain virtual machines, databases, storage, and networking resources in the cloud.
  • Implement solutions to monitor the health and performance of cloud infrastructure resources, including availability and capacity, and proactively identify and resolve any issues.
  • Implement backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure business continuity.
  • Maintain security controls and policies to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data in the cloud.
  • Monitor and report on compliance with security and regulatory requirements and proactively remediate issues.
  • Lead team activities for security incident response and remediation.
  • Participate in the selection and design of automation and scripting tools to improve efficiency and consistency of system administration tasks.
  • Produce and maintain documentation for cloud infrastructure resources, configurations, and procedures.
  • Conduct peer reviews and testing to ensure the quality and consistency of infrastructure code and deployments.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, as well as internal security policies, standards, and guidelines by implementing advanced security controls and practices.
  • Conduct product and vendor research, and present recommendations to senior engineer and/or management.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years' experience delivering systems solutions and related services, with at least 2 years supporting mission critical cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as code (IaC) tools and methodologies, preferably Terraform.
  • Experience with cloud orchestration platforms for automation and management of IS operations and resources in private and public cloud infrastructure, preferably RedHat Ansible.
  • Experience with source code management tools and methodologies.
  • Experience with coding or scripting, preferably PowerShell, Bash, Azure CLI.
  • Experience with DevOps pipelines including CI/CD cycles.
  • Experience with DevOps tools, preferably Visual Studio, VSCode.
  • Experience with cloud storage services and options.
  • Experience delivering virtualized applications.
  • Experience with data protection and retention.
  • Experience with Microsoft and Linux operating systems, core services, and management tools.
  • Experience with compute infrastructure development, including a balance of performance, management, and cost objectives.
  • Familiarity with ITIL concepts and practices.

  • Estimated hiring range $121,770 - $148,830 / year
  • 5% bonus target
