About the position

The IS Data Warehouse Architect I position at CareOregon is an entry-level role focused on the design and development of data models and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) specifications. This position is essential for supporting the organization's data architecture needs and involves a variety of responsibilities that contribute to the overall data management strategy. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure that data solutions meet business requirements and adhere to established standards and best practices. In this role, the architect will create data models for basic to moderate subjects and develop ETL specifications that align with business data needs. The position also involves analyzing data sources to recommend solutions that mitigate potential risks. The architect will participate in long-term planning for data warehouse and dashboard architecture, contributing to the creation and management of simple data warehouse and analytics architectures that serve as references for solution development. Additionally, the architect will be responsible for standards and policy administration, collaborating with team members to identify requirements and best practices for data modeling and ETL specifications. This includes reviewing existing systems to ensure compliance with established standards and supporting business operations effectively. The role also entails vendor coordination, where the architect will conduct product and vendor research, present recommendations, and develop effective working relationships with vendors and equipment suppliers. The IS Data Warehouse Architect I will perform their work in alignment with CareOregon's mission, vision, and values, supporting the organization's commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Create data models for basic to moderate subjects.
  • Create basic to moderate ETL specifications to meet business data needs.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate documentation, including current design and operation.
  • Analyze data sources; research and recommend solutions which include potential risks.
  • Participate in long-term data warehouse and dashboard architecture planning.
  • Participate in creating and managing simple data warehouse and analytics architectures for use as reference and as input to solution development process.
  • Collaborate with others to identify requirements, standards and best practices for data modeling, ETL specifications, and data warehouse development.
  • Participate in the ongoing review of existing systems to ensure they are designed to comply with established standards and to empower business operations.
  • Conduct product and vendor research, and present recommendations to more advanced database developers and/or management.
  • Develop effective working relationships with vendors and related equipment suppliers, including installation and repair of services.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of data warehouse architecture experience.
  • Dimensional modeling experience.
  • Metadata management experience.
  • Data quality assessment experience.
  • Performance tuning and optimization experience.
  • ETL/ELT design experience.
  • Experience with cloud warehousing solutions.
  • Proficiency with SQL.
  • Experience in health insurance systems analysis and design.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodology.
