About the position

The IS Database Developer II at CareOregon is a pivotal role responsible for the development and maintenance of databases and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes. This position plays a crucial part in enhancing CareOregon's database and ETL development model, ensuring that the organization's data management strategies align with its business objectives. The developer will engage in evaluating, architecting, and implementing information systems priorities, which include planning, designing, installing, and maintaining database solutions. In this role, the developer will actively participate in the design of custom databases and processes, providing advanced database design support to the organization. They will lead small projects with guidance from their supervisor and collaborate with other IS teams to establish best practices in database design and development. The developer will also be responsible for developing ETL processes for moderate to advanced activities, analyzing business requirements, and recommending solutions that address potential risks. Additionally, they will maintain comprehensive technology documentation that reflects current designs and operations. The IS Database Developer II will propose requirements, standards, and best practices for database and ETL development, ensuring compliance with established standards while empowering business operations. They will conduct product and vendor research, presenting recommendations to senior developers and management, and will establish effective working relationships with vendors and equipment suppliers. This role requires a commitment to process improvements, meeting deadlines, and contributing to departmental goals through teamwork and cooperation.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the design of custom databases and processes.
  • Provide advanced database design support to the organization; lead small projects with assistance from supervisor or lead and participate and consult on other projects.
  • Collaborate with other IS teams on best practices of database design and development.
  • Develop ETL processes for moderate to advanced activities.
  • Develop moderate to advanced databases to meet application and web needs.
  • Analyze business requirements; research and recommend solutions which include potential risks and mitigation.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate technology documentation, including current design and operation.
  • Propose requirements, standards, and best practices for database and ETL development.
  • Participate in the ongoing review of existing systems to ensure they are designed to comply with established standards and to empower business operations.
  • Conduct product and vendor research, and present recommendations to more advanced database developers and/or management.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors and related equipment suppliers, including installation and repair of services.
  • Propose and implement process improvements.
  • Meet deadlines for completion of job tasks.
  • Maintain agreed upon work schedule.
  • Demonstrate cooperation and teamwork.
  • Provide cross-training on specific job responsibilities.
  • Meet identified business goals that contribute to departmental goals.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of database and ETL development experience.
  • Experience in database development and maintenance.
  • Experience in ETL development and maintenance.
  • Experience in systems analysis and design.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodology.
  • For data warehouse focused roles, minimum 3 years' experience developing ETL for loading a dimensional model using T-SQL and SSIS 2012, 2014, or 2016.
