About the position
The Class B CDL Driver at Thompson Industrial Services is responsible for the safe execution of various industrial cleaning jobs across multiple service lines. This role involves supervising and completing tasks with a crew, ensuring compliance with safety policies, and operating specialized equipment. The position is ideal for transitioning military personnel looking to leverage their skills in a civilian role.
Responsibilities
- Act as safety representative responsible for safety policies and procedures of both the company and the customer.
- Hands-on operation of vacuum equipment and hydroblasting equipment.
- Operation of special equipment, such as Ultra High-Pressure pumps.
- Energize and operate pumping equipment and specialized hydroblasting and chemical cleaning equipment.
- Examine surfaces cleaned to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance on company equipment used on the job.
- Handle duties associated with liquid vacs, air machines, and jet rodders.
- Direct a crew of vacuum technicians as needed.
- Transport equipment and personnel to and from customer locations.
- Complete pre and post trip inspections, driver's logs, and comply with vehicle policy and DOT requirements.
- Load and unload hoses and vacuum truck at the dump site.
- Provide general maintenance in the field.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Class B CDL (Minimum)
- Ability to drive a manual transmission
- Experience in environmental areas, Roll Off trailers, and dry vans is a plus
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience
- Specific vocational preparation including classroom safety training and on-the-job training
- Valid driver's license and compliance with company's driving policy
- Smartphone required for Electronic Logging Device
- Knowledge of emergency equipment operation, such as fire extinguishers
- Experience operating a vacuum truck
- Working knowledge of equipment used in wet and dry vacuums.
