About the position

The Governance and Privacy Manager is a pivotal role within the organization, responsible for leading the development and maturation of data governance policies and procedures. This position requires an experienced, innovative, and passionate data leader who will manage the Privacy & Protection team, collaborating closely with the Global Data Privacy Office and Information Security Team to implement various data privacy initiatives across the organization. The IS Manager will lead a high-performing agile team focused on enhancing organization-wide data privacy, compliance, and governance policies and processes, ensuring user adoption, sustainability, and effectiveness of the program in alignment with strategic initiatives. In this role, the Governance and Privacy Manager will work collaboratively with business leaders, process and data owners, data stewards, and other key stakeholders to support the development and implementation of policies, standards, and frameworks for data governance and privacy. This includes classifying and establishing processes related to Enterprise Data Privacy Policies such as GDPR and CCPA. The manager will oversee the design and development of enterprise-wide metrics to measure the effectiveness of the data governance program, ensuring that these metrics align with legal, regulatory, and industry standards. Additionally, the Governance and Privacy Manager will prepare technical delivery cost and timeline estimates to ensure that key roadmap initiatives are delivered on time and within budget. They will assist the Delivery Manager in executing and refining the overall Data Management strategy, mission, and vision concerning data privacy and governance. Staying current on data management best practices, trainings, and certifications is essential, as is acting as a coach, leader, and mentor to guide team members in their professional development. The manager will also contribute to the development of product/service and departmental budgets, actively managing these budgets to align with organizational goals and fiscal responsibility for technology investments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and maturation of data governance policies and procedures.
  • Manage the Privacy & Protection team in collaboration with the Global Data Privacy Office and Information Security Team.
  • Develop and mature organization-wide data privacy, compliance, and governance policies and processes.
  • Collaborate with business leaders, process and data owners, and data stewards to implement policies and standards.
  • Classify and establish processes related to Enterprise Data Privacy Policies (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Oversee the design and development of enterprise-wide metrics to measure the effectiveness of the data governance program.
  • Prepare technical delivery cost and timeline estimates for key roadmap initiatives.
  • Assist the Delivery Manager in executing and refining the overall Data Management strategy.
  • Act as a coach, leader, and mentor to team members.
  • Contribute to the development and management of departmental budgets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of management/leadership experience in an IT organization.
  • Experience in data governance and stewardship (e.g., Informatica Axon or equivalent).
  • Experience in data privacy (e.g., OneTrust or equivalent).
  • Experience in metadata management solutions (e.g., Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to partner with key business stakeholders.
  • Experience managing large teams in an onshore/offshore collaborative environment.
  • Experience with agile methodologies (e.g., SAFe, Scrum, Kanban).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building.
  • Proven ability to lead technology efforts and ensure objectives are met.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong technical project management and leadership skills.
