About the position

The IS Technical Specialist (Java/SpringBoot Developer) is a hybrid role based in Columbus, OH, responsible for providing technical and consultative support on complex technical matters. This position involves analyzing, designing, and developing systems based on user specifications, ensuring that the solutions meet the needs of the organization. The specialist will provide technical assistance in resolving hardware or software issues, leveraging their in-depth knowledge of the technical tools available for systems development and support. In addition to technical responsibilities, the specialist is expected to maintain and demonstrate knowledge of industry trends, particularly those relevant to Huntington. This role may also involve identifying training needs and assisting in the training of less experienced staff. The IS Technical Specialist may serve as a project leader for specific projects, guiding the team through the development process and ensuring successful project delivery. Other duties may be assigned as necessary, reflecting the dynamic nature of the role and the organization’s needs.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes, designs, and develops systems based upon user specifications.
  • Provides technical assistance in solving hardware or software problems.
  • Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of technical industry trends, particularly as they apply to Huntington.
  • Assists with identifying training needs or with training of less experienced staff.
  • Serves as project leader for specific projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an architect driving/leading integration architecture, design, and development.
  • Strong understanding of API management, RESTful and SOAP web services.
  • Experience with cloud integration platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS).
  • Knowledge of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL) and data modeling.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with event driven architecture and event sourcing, including messaging frameworks such as Kafka.
  • Efficient in programming languages commonly used for microservices, including Java EE, Java generics, and concurrent programming.
  • Experience with microservices framework Spring Boot.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, GCP/AWS Certified Solutions Architect).
  • Experience with GCP infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with GCP Products like Cloud Run, Terraform, Big Data, Big Query.
