About the position
The Technical Specialist (Senior Application Developer and Technical Lead) is responsible for researching, designing, developing, integrating, enhancing, and supporting service-oriented application system projects within a COBOL/DB2/CICS/Web Services/MQ/XML mainframe environment. This role plays a crucial part in managing essential banking services, including customer account management, funds transfers, and transaction history access, while ensuring the implementation of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
Responsibilities
- Analyzes, designs, and develops systems based upon user specifications.
- Provides technical assistance in solving hardware or software problems.
- Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of technical industry trends, particularly as they apply to Huntington.
- Assists with identifying training needs or training of less experienced staff.
- Serves as project leader for specific projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business or other related field/experience.
- 5+ years of experience working with technology teams to deliver business and technical solutions leveraging skills with Java, WebSphere, .NET, Rest API, Fuse, Kafka, and JSON.
- 5+ years of experience and proven understanding of DevOps, continuous integration, container-based applications, cloud deployment architectures.
Nice-to-haves
- Highly motivated with strong organizational, analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple priorities and effectively prioritize them.
- A banking industry background is a plus.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills.
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing cloud infrastructure, including the migration of application and data.
- Expert understanding of agile concepts and an agile mindset.
- Working knowledge of Scrum and Kanban delivery frameworks.
