About The Position

The ISP (Inside Plant) Engineer I is responsible for troubleshooting, support, and maintenance of network elements and connections that support Charter's revenue-generating networks. This role involves providing enterprise-wide tiered support on various services including Voice, Internet, Video, and Core distribution. The engineer will work under moderate supervision to ensure high-quality delivery of signals to the outside plant, utilizing and maintaining a variety of optical and electrical interfaces. The position requires participation in an on-call rotation and adherence to industry regulations and company policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics/Technology or Sciences or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Valid Certifications from SCTE BFTS and BDS required within 6 months of employment.
  • Minimum of four years of headend technician or electronics/network implementation experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to adapt and change to ensure business success.
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to walk over various terrains in all weather conditions while carrying tools.
  • Knowledge of company products and services.
  • Knowledge of National Electric Code and National Electric Safety Code.
  • Basic understanding of video networking, IP networking, and DOCSIS.
  • Knowledge of critical systems elements including HVAC and generators.

Responsibilities

  • Support efforts to enhance the customer experience.
  • Adhere to the ISP Playbook and business objectives.
  • Monitor services for quality delivery assurance.
  • Operate ISP test equipment to verify performance.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Provide engineering and operational support for technologies.
  • Perform troubleshooting and assist with network resolution.
  • Install, configure, and operate headend equipment.
  • Perform daily checks to ensure HE functionality.
  • Install and maintain Ethernet, coaxial, and fiber cabling.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain off-air antennas for television and radio reception.
  • Install and maintain DWDM optical devices and emergency alert systems.
  • Maintain logs and documentation in compliance with FCC requirements.
  • Perform facility inspections and ensure compliance with corporate standards.
  • Conduct testing and logging as outlined by ISP Playbook.
  • Create and implement approved methods of procedure and Change Management Requests.
  • Support testing of backup power systems.
  • Work on projects of moderate complexity surrounding network planning and optimization.
