About the position

The ISS ECLSS Support System Test Engineer will provide technical mechanical engineering expertise to support the Environmental Control Life Support System (ECLSS) for the International Space Station (ISS) and other advanced exploration systems. The role involves system engineering, mechanical design, testing, and troubleshooting of life support systems, ensuring their efficiency and reliability in space environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical mechanical engineering expertise for ISS ECLSS and AES Life Support Systems.
• Support system engineering and mechanical design of specialized test articles and test support equipment.
• Conduct mechanical structure analysis and testing of development systems.
• Participate in systems verification and material procurement tracking.
• Write procedures and participate in meetings and design reviews.
• Support test protocols, apparatus, and conduct tests, including interpretation and reporting of results.
• Maintain life support systems aboard the ISS and troubleshoot anomalous phenomena.

Requirements

• A degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is required.
• Ph.D. with a minimum of 24 years of experience, MS with at least 28 years, or BS with at least 30 years of experience is typically required.
• A minimum of 3 years of applicable experience in Aerospace testing and/or test data collection and analysis.
• At least 3 years of knowledge of thermal/fluid components, systems, and associated instrumentation.
• Experience with the build-up and disassembly of test stands and development of test procedures.
• Experience in interpreting post-experimental test data and sourcing instrumentation.

Nice-to-haves

• Hands-on experience with gaseous and liquid fluid flow systems.
• Working knowledge of LABVIEW.
• Working knowledge of Aerospace flight system component testing.
