About the position

The position involves providing technical mechanical engineering expertise to support various life support systems for space missions, including the ES62 Space Station CO2 Removal and the ISS Environmental Control Life Support System. The role encompasses system engineering, mechanical design, testing, and troubleshooting of life support systems, ensuring their efficiency and reliability in space environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical mechanical engineering expertise for life support systems.
• Support system engineering and mechanical design of specialized test articles and equipment.
• Conduct mechanical structure analysis and testing of development systems.
• Participate in systems verification and material procurement tracking.
• Write procedures and participate in meetings and design reviews.
• Support test protocols, apparatus, and interpretation of test results.

Requirements

• A degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related field is required.
• Typically, educational requirements are equivalent to a Ph.D. with a minimum of 4 years of experience, a Master's with at least 8 years, or a BS with at least 10 years of experience.
• A minimum of 2 years of applicable experience directly related to Aerospace testing and/or test data collection and analysis.
• At least 2 years of knowledge of thermal/fluid components, systems, and associated instrumentation.
• At least 2 years of experience with the build-up and disassembly of test stands.
• At least 2 years of experience with the development of test procedures.
• Experience in interpretation of post-experimental test data.
• Experience in sourcing instrumentation and test stand components.

Nice-to-haves

• Hands-on experience with gaseous and liquid fluid flow systems.
• A working knowledge of LABVIEW.
• A working knowledge of Aerospace flight system component testing.
