The Information System Security Officer (ISSO) / Cyber Security Engineer position at JANUS Research Group is focused on supporting the Project Management Tactical Network (PM Tactical Network) at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. The selected candidate will be responsible for guiding the development of cybersecurity policies, requirements, engineering, and certification and accreditation processes for the systems under the PM Tactical Network. This role requires a deep understanding of Department of Defense (DoD) standards and the Risk Management Framework (RMF), as well as the ability to translate security policies into actionable cybersecurity configurations and application requirements. The candidate will be tasked with processing systems within the RMF and maintaining records in the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS). They will conduct network and host vulnerability scans, document results, and identify residual risks. Familiarity with network vulnerability scanners such as ACAS and Nessus, as well as patch management software like WSUS and McAfee ESM, is essential. The role also involves experience with firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), application-level firewalls, and web content filtering. Additionally, the candidate must possess scripting skills in languages such as Batch, BASH, NSIS, and Python to effectively secure various network devices and operating systems. Incident handling processes and data analysis from scans will also be part of the responsibilities. The ISSO/Cyber Security Engineer will implement and enforce security policies across the organization, ensuring compliance with established standards and practices. Candidates must be U.S. citizens to obtain and maintain the required security clearance, and a minimum of four years of relevant experience is mandatory. A BA or BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field is also required.
