About the position

The Product Owner I is responsible for ensuring that a development team (pod) is creating value for the organization through the delivery of customer-focused product increments. This role involves aligning with other Product Owners and senior management to follow a product vision, creating and maintaining a prioritized product backlog, managing delivery blockers, and continuously assessing customer feedback. The Product Owner I should always be considering how to maximize value, assessing how the product or the delivery process can be continuously improved, contributing to a positive work environment, and ensuring that work embodies the Agile principles of transparency, collaboration, and engagement. In this key subject matter expert role, the Product Owner I is accountable for specialized product development support based on sound product expertise and knowledge of Agile/Scrum processes, roles, and practices. The position requires integrating knowledge of the enterprise sub-function's or business line's overarching strategy in developing solutions across multiple functions or operations. The Product Owner I interprets internal and external business challenges and the industry environment, recommending courses of action and best practices to improve products, processes, or services. This role also leads and integrates cross-functional understanding within their own field of specialty and/or projects with significant resource requirements, risk, and complexity. The Product Owner I will solve or lead others to solve complex problems, using sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgment and identify solutions. This position impacts the achievement of sub-function or business line objectives within the area they are accountable for, and requires effective communication of difficult concepts, converting information to compelling business context and advice, and influencing and gaining alignment across increasingly senior stakeholders. The role works autonomously as the lead and guides others within their area of expertise.
