About the position

Myticas's direct client based out of Shaker Heights, OH is currently seeking an IT Actuarial Analyst for a hybrid (2 days onsite/week) contract to hire position. The role is pivotal in executing projects that encompass the entire scope of the data science and actuarial pipeline. This includes integrating disparate and centralized data into data marts, developing statistical models, and designing and automating report distribution. The analyst will continuously present and reassess results in support of the client's Population Health and Operational effectiveness initiatives. The position requires both leadership and support in interdisciplinary collaboration to identify opportunities and deploy adaptive analytic strategies aimed at providing measurable improvements in value-based reimbursements for care delivered by the client to current and future patient populations. The IT Actuarial Analyst will lead the discovery and requirements gathering process with key clinical and business stakeholders to inform analytic plans. They will collaboratively co-create the discovery, design, development, deployment, optimization, and maintenance of advanced analytics and data science techniques to enrich disparate datasets. The goal is to craft data-driven interventions aimed at achieving the Quadruple Aim. The analyst will also be responsible for researching, designing, developing, and implementing predictive models and advanced analytics to support value-based contracting and population health improvement. Additionally, they will visualize data in creative ways that bring data and insights to life, making it consumable in the business and operational workflow of end-users. The role requires the creative utilization of diverse data sources, including electronic health record data, insurance claims data, scheduling and financial data, and social determinants of health data. The analyst will assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques, evaluate business performance, and dynamically monitor critical operational measures related to shared savings arrangements and other value-based programs with governmental and commercial payors. Maintaining actuarial standards of practice and progressing towards actuarial credentials is also a key responsibility of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the discovery and requirements gathering process with key clinical and business stakeholders to inform analytic plans.
  • Collaboratively co-create the discovery, design, development, deployment, optimization, and maintenance of advanced analytics and data science techniques.

Requirements

  • 2+ years working with complex analytic situations, health insurance, or health claims data.
  • Proficiency with SQL/complex SQL queries.
  • Experience with at least 1 advanced programming method (e.g. Python, R, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently and use creative approaches to problem-solving.
  • Optimistic, self-directed performer capable of complex decision making and communication.
  • Capable of turning questions into testable hypotheses and extracting data from complex databases.
  • Experience in gathering and validating requirements and estimating timelines for completion of work.
  • Working knowledge of emerging technology platforms.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Successful progress towards Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation.
  • Experience with healthcare claims data (e.g. Hospital/Health System, Payor, or Consultant).
  • Experience in data visualization and ability to communicate results to a non-technical audience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or related Quantitative discipline.
