About the position

The Agile Project Manager will play a crucial role in the IT department at MathWorks, leading and managing IT projects by effectively blending traditional project management and agile methodologies. This position requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of agile principles, and the ability to drive project delivery through collaboration and transparency. The Agile Project Manager will facilitate project planning, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement to achieve project goals while fostering a productive team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage IT projects using a blend of traditional project management and agile methodologies.
  • Drive project delivery while ensuring that all team members understand and adhere to agile principles.
  • Facilitate project or sprint planning sessions, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Perform problem-solving and root cause analysis to address delivery issues and obstacles.
  • Understand and manage group dynamics to foster a collaborative and productive team environment.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on project progress along with agile team metrics.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution and delivery.
  • Continuously improve project management processes and practices within the IT department.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members on agile practices and principles.

Requirements

  • 3+ years' experience leading and managing IT Infrastructure projects using both traditional and agile methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of agile principles and practices, including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent facilitation, problem-solving, and root cause analysis abilities.
  • Ability to adapt and blend varying project management techniques to suit project needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence.
  • Relevant certifications such as PMP, CSM, or PMI-ACP are a plus.
  • A bachelor's degree and 6 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree and 3 years of professional work experience, or equivalent experience) is required.
