About the position

Michelin is seeking an experienced IT Agile Team Lead/Scrum Master to join our Demand Services Platform team at our North American Corporate Headquarters in Greenville, SC. This role is pivotal in fostering a high-performance team environment and ensuring the successful implementation of Agile methodologies. As a servant leader, you will be responsible for delivering the best value to Michelin while maintaining a continuous flow of work without compromising quality. You will actively coach the Agile approach, core values, and practices, ensuring that the Scrum framework supports the organization effectively. In this position, you will work closely with the product owner to define value and assist the development team in delivering that value. You will facilitate the definition of the minimal viable product and encourage continuous refinement and prioritization of the product backlog. Your role will also involve helping the team self-organize, focus on their commitments, and protect them from outside interferences. You will ensure that the team has access to industry best practices and tools for effective product vision, discovery, roadmaps, estimating, planning, and delivery. You will be responsible for fostering an environment of trust, transparency, and collaboration within the team, inspiring them to prioritize customer satisfaction. Your coaching will help the team achieve world-class performance through the use of Agile performance metrics. Additionally, you will assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency of the team's work, and ensuring smooth handoff and knowledge transfer to the support organization. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication, and a solid understanding of technical activities needed for IT deliveries.

Responsibilities

  • Foster an environment for high-performance team dynamics and help the team self-organize.
  • Exhibit a solid understanding of Agile Values and Principles and ensure practical implementation.
  • Ensure the team has coaching for and access to common industry practices/tools/techniques for effective Product Vision, Discovery, Roadmaps, etc.
  • Mentor and coach the team on User Story writing, story sizing, and acceptance criteria definition in partnership with the Product Owner.
  • Facilitate the definition of minimal viable product and encourage continuous refinement and prioritization of the product backlog.
  • Proactively assist the team in removing obstacles and encourage them to develop norms for addressing barriers.
  • Ensure the team works efficiently and in a mode of continuous improvement, with regular updates and communication of important performance metrics and results.

Requirements

  • Previous Scrum Master or Agile Team Lead experience is preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience working in an Agile team; understanding of common Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, etc.).
  • CSM, CSPO, ICP-ATF (IC Agile Team Facilitation) or equivalent certification is a plus.
  • Experience using Jira Agile, Miro, Online Retro Tools (ex: MetroRetro), Planning Poker, etc.
  • Excellent people and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of technical activities needed for IT deliveries, including solution analysis and design, systems integration, and deployment planning.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in coaching teams to achieve world-class performance around delivering in an incremental and iterative manner.
  • Familiarity with Agile Performance metrics such as Lead/Cycle Time, Deployment Frequency, and Velocity.
  • Ability to engage in difficult conversations that result in positive, actionable outcomes.
