About the position

The IT Alumni Career Coach at JobTrain is responsible for supporting alumni of the IT Career Pathway program as they advance their careers and achieve economic mobility. This role involves providing one-on-one coaching, delivering workshops, and collaborating with a cross-functional team to ensure alumni have the resources and support they need to succeed in their careers. The position is hybrid, requiring in-office work two days a week and remote work three days a week, with an emphasis on fostering a diverse and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with a cross-functional team to support alumni in their career planning.
  • Communicate consistently with alumni to remind them of available services and keep them informed.
  • Deliver workshops for alumni to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching to alumni, helping them plan their career paths and address personal factors affecting their careers.
  • Assist alumni in creating and updating application documents such as resumes and cover letters.
  • Prepare alumni for interviews and job searches, including networking strategies.
  • Measure program effectiveness by working with the Impact team to assess outputs and outcomes.
  • Document interactions with clients to track progress and measure success.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in career coaching or recruiting.
  • Knowledge of the IT industry and experience working with similar clients.
  • Excellent relationship management skills and comfort in a mentoring role.
  • Strong communication skills and a set of career coaching tools and practices.
  • Project management skills and basic administrative skills, including familiarity with Salesforce and spreadsheets.
  • Certificate in career coaching preferred.

  • Experience with diverse populations and understanding of barriers faced by clients.
