About the position

The IT Analyst/Programmer II position at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) is a full-time role within the Information Technology Services (ITS) department. The primary function of this position is to support the university's mission by designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-level applications, interfaces, automation, and integrations. This role is crucial in enhancing the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the university's administrators, faculty, and staff through the use of technology. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a team of professionals in the Enterprise Applications and Development Services department, as well as with various campus constituents and vendors. In this role, the IT Analyst/Programmer II will be responsible for developing and automating necessary outbound and inbound data feeds to and from the ERP system. This includes performing programming tasks using intermediate database queries with SQL and PL/SQL, as well as utilizing vendor-supplied Application Program Interfaces (APIs) and other software technologies as required. The position emphasizes the successful completion of technical tasks related to the implementation, development, maintenance, enhancement, automation, and support of ERP systems and their integrations, all aimed at supporting the strategic direction of the university and improving business processes. Additionally, the IT Analyst/Programmer II will serve as a technical resource for other members of the ITS division and campus constituents, conducting research and troubleshooting to resolve technical issues submitted through the helpdesk system. The role also involves ensuring that appropriate testing is performed and validated in collaboration with technical and functional staff before implementing new or enhanced technology solutions in production. The candidate will be expected to communicate effectively with users, ITS staff, and vendors to resolve application systems issues and contribute to a team environment that requires technical expertise and guidance for administrative technical solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and automate necessary outbound and inbound data feeds from and to the ERP system.
  • Perform programming tasks using intermediate database queries with SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Utilize vendor-supplied Application Program Interfaces (APIs) and other software technologies as required.
  • Complete technical tasks related to the implementation, development, maintenance, enhancement, automation, and support of ERP systems.
  • Serve as a technical resource and support for other members of the Enterprise Applications and Development Services department.
  • Conduct research and troubleshooting to help resolve technical issues submitted through the helpdesk system.
  • Ensure appropriate testing is performed and validated prior to implementing new or enhanced technology solutions in production.
  • Collaborate and communicate with users, ITS staff, and vendors to resolve application systems issues.
  • Contribute as a member of a team requiring technical expertise and guidance for administrative technical solutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, Computer Science, or Information Technology from an accredited institution or related experience.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in IT industries developing and supporting software development in database management.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and Oracle PL/SQL is a must.
  • Experience with enterprise-level applications such as Ellucian Banner 8 and 9, Argos, Postman, NextGen, AppWorx, N2N illuminate, Windows, Git/GitHub, and Subversion.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and participate as a contributing team member in the implementation of new or enhanced technological solutions.
  • Excellent research, analysis, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with excellent listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with various university constituents in both technical and non-technical terms.
  • Strong customer-service orientation.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of Unix and Java is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in Higher Education is preferred but not required.
  • Substantial exposure to project-based work structures and agile methodologies.
