About the position

Join the SwRI ITC Support Services team that provides Oracle database support for the Institute's Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) system and other databases as needed. This position is critical for the Institute, allowing for the execution of day-to-day activities essential to the organization. The role offers a flexible schedule, including the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays. As a database analyst and administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining the core Oracle database environment and ERP software, specifically Deltek Costpoint, along with other supplemental applications. You will also assist in troubleshooting issues and evaluating new technologies, such as cloud solutions and new Oracle architecture features. Your daily responsibilities will include providing support to the ERP system, particularly Deltek's Costpoint product, which encompasses upgrades, troubleshooting, and the initiation of support calls. You will handle database responsibilities that involve Oracle system maintenance, database backups and restores, and database upgrade tasks, specifically within an on-premises Oracle environment on a UNIX platform. Additionally, you will evaluate cloud technologies to support database instances and assist in performance monitoring and tuning of Oracle databases.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as database analyst and administrator for the Institute's Oracle based ERP system and other databases.
  • Provide support to the ERP, Deltek's Costpoint product, including upgrades, troubleshooting, and initiation of support calls.
  • Handle Oracle system maintenance, database backups & restores, and database upgrade tasks.
  • Evaluate cloud technologies to support database instances.
  • Assist in performance monitoring and tuning on Oracle databases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field in Information Technology.
  • Continuing education and related certifications plus six (6) years of directly related professional level experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 3 years of experience as an Oracle database administrator or in a supporting role to database administration, including installs, upgrades, and migrations of Oracle software in an Enterprise environment on a UNIX/Linux platform.
  • 1 year of customer experience interfacing with end users in support of an ERP system or application.
  • 1 year of experience or working knowledge with Oracle's RMAN and Data Guard products for high availability and disaster recovery.
  • 1 year of experience or working knowledge with hosting databases in the cloud and with Oracle Weblogic Application Server preferred.
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required.
