About the position

The IT Analyst, Staff Specialist - EMR (Epic/Willow Ambulatory) is responsible for overseeing the support and maintenance of Willow applications within the University of Virginia's Information Management, Services & Technology department. This role involves instructing and directing other systems analysis and programming personnel, formulating system scope and objectives for projects, and ensuring quality assurance. The position requires a deep understanding of both technical and business aspects of the applications, with the analyst acting as a project lead on small to medium initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct, direct, and check the work of systems analysis and programming personnel supporting Willow applications.
  • Formulate and define system scope and objectives for assigned projects.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems related to clinical ancillary applications.
  • Confer with departmental managers to determine requirements and provide optimal solutions.
  • Develop specifications, program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.
  • Direct, monitor, and evaluate the work of team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Epic certification in primary application(s) required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as a clinical Pharmacist and/or Pharmacy Technician.
