About the position

The IT Analyst Technical Infrastructure role at Caterpillar Inc. involves supporting the development, maintenance, and automation of systems within the Product Support and Logistics Division. This position is crucial for ensuring customer order fulfillment through effective monitoring and support of automation solutions. The role emphasizes collaboration with global teams and requires a proactive approach to optimize automation processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform first line support and monitoring for various automation solutions across Caterpillar Parts facilities.
  • Assist in the development of automated end-to-end monitoring solutions with IT infrastructure architects and other developers.
  • Participate in IT infrastructure reviews to support continuous availability of automation solutions at the site.
  • Proactively monitor, investigate, and support automation systems deployed across Caterpillar Parts facilities.
  • Perform testing of changes for automation systems & components according to IT Technology Service Management (ITSM) change management processes.
  • Support daily site usage of automation systems by handling incoming incident tickets, collaborative MS Teams communications, and direct calls for issues.
  • Work with local facility staff, Network Team, Cybersecurity Team, Site IT Contacts, Logistics Center Managers (LCMs), and other impacted subject matter experts to implement system enhancements.
  • Perform basic network monitoring and troubleshooting connection issues (Wired/Wireless) for automation systems at sites.
  • Provide off-shift and weekend support for incidents and production migrations related to site automation.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Technical architecture and systems programming; ability to build and integrate IT hardware into multi-platforms for the organization.
  • Knowledge of integration with Servers, Network, and Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
  • Understanding of Network firewalls and related firewall rules as impacting applications and solutions at the remote sites.
  • Understanding of PLC communications and connectivity as used in a shop environment.
  • Knowledge of system software interaction, database management systems, communications protocols, and other development tools.
  • Performing server monitoring and network troubleshooting Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Domain Name System (DNS), and Identity Service Engine (ISE) authentication, Microsoft servers, Cisco network wired and wireless devices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree or higher OR extensive experience in IT Infrastructure.
  • Experience with following ITSM incident, change, and problem management procedures.
  • Knowledge of VMware environments and basic operations and monitoring of related virtual servers.
  • Local Area Network administration using Cisco Prime network monitoring.
  • Planning and testing experience.
  • Experience with disaster recovery and/or business continuity planning & testing.
  • Experience with Linux systems and warehouse management systems such as SAP.
