About the position

The IT Application Developer position at the Office of Financial Management (OFM) in Olympia, WA, is a hybrid role focused on developing application and data integration solutions to enhance state government services. The developer will work within the Data Movement & Integration Team, responsible for designing and implementing integration solutions for various state enterprise applications. This role is crucial in supporting the agency's mission to improve government operations and ensure timely access to data for state agencies and the Legislature.

Responsibilities

  • Develop application and data integration solutions for state enterprise applications.
  • Create standard and non-standard interfaces to support OneWa ERP/Workday implementations.
  • Develop code to integrate data between disparate applications using Informatica PowerCenter, DIH, and IICS.
  • Write scripts in languages such as MS Batch, Python, and VBscript for data orchestration.
  • Maintain code for web services (SOAP and REST) and APIs, utilizing XML, WSDLs, XSDs, and JSON.
  • Consume web services and APIs from various vendors to integrate enterprise data.
  • Translate application requirements into functioning code for application integration.
  • Design data integration application architecture and use SQL for database object management.
  • Build WSDL documents for web service definitions.
  • Perform maintenance and support for enterprise integration solutions.
  • Conduct code and quality assurance reviews for new and existing solutions.
  • Perform root cause analysis for production issues and optimize code as needed.
  • Monitor production application data exchanges and ensure timely delivery of data.
  • Assist customers with problem resolution and integration architecture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field (Mathematics, Engineering, Database Design).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in developing applications or workflows in modern programming languages (Java, .Net, etc.).
  • Experience in developing solutions in a Middleware environment (Informatica, MQ, etc.).
  • Experience in scripting/programming that interacts with SQL Server or other SQL-based database systems.
  • Knowledge of data architecture, database management, and data/application integration solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience engineering complex data and application integration solutions for enterprise systems.
  • Familiarity with enterprise systems and integration technologies and methods.
