About the position

The IT Application Developer position is a full-time role within the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Information System and Technology (IS&T) department. The developer will be part of the CHARTS development team, responsible for enhancing and maintaining the Child Have A Right to Support (CHARTS) system. This role involves all phases of software development for web applications in a large-scale IT environment, including requirements gathering, design, implementation, and production support.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all phases of software development activities for Web assignments in a large-scale IT environment using DB2.
  • Gather requirements and perform analysis for software development.
  • Conduct functional and technical design, construction, and testing of applications.
  • Implement and provide production support for web applications.
  • Collaborate closely with business analysts, technical analysts, managers, and business sponsors.

Requirements

  • Experience, education, or training in coding computer applications.
  • Knowledge of software development principles and methods.
  • Experience with Java, Java Servlet, .NET, XML, JSP, EJB, DHTML, CSS, SQL Server, JavaScript, and HTML coding.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Clarity or Workfront.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working on a large system using structured procedures and guidelines.
  • Experience as an applications developer for a State Child Support System.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint, Visio, and Access.
