About The Position

As the Application Development Manager at United Airlines, you will lead the development and implementation of a new Airport Operations technology, which is crucial for the airline's growth strategy. This hybrid role requires in-office attendance 2-3 days per week in Houston or Chicago, and involves overseeing a team focused on digital transformation, ensuring the integration of technology solutions across various systems, and driving organizational change through Agile development practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Computer Science or equivalent.
• Understanding of digital platforms, tools, and emerging technologies (e.g., AWS/Azure Cloud, .NET).
• Experience with supervising critical applications requiring 24/7 operational support.
• Demonstrable experience in leading cloud-native applications and services.
• Proven track record of ownership and successful delivery of projects.
• Ability to prioritize projects based on alignment with business goals.
• Experience in leading digital transformation initiatives.
• Proficiency in managing software development projects, including Agile and DevOps practices.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Solid understanding or experience with High Availability systems, App Connect Enterprise toolset, ML, LLM, IoT, and AI.
• Aviation industry knowledge or experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end delivery and maintenance of applications, including cloud-based solutions.
• Manage the entire application lifecycle from development through deployment and maintenance.
• Ensure efficient and reliable operations while meeting budget, schedule, and quality goals for projects.
• Engage and partner with technical and business collaborators to support key business processes and customer experiences.
• Collaborate with business units to prioritize product development and lead key initiatives.
• Provide delivery estimates and updates to support IT performance metrics and project status reporting.
• Maintain relationships with technology vendors to ensure value delivery to the organization.
• Identify technical obstacles and work with the team to find creative solutions.
• Promote the use of automation to streamline processes and improve efficiency across the application lifecycle.
• Encourage accountability by evaluating processes against important metrics.
