About the position

The IT Application Development Manager for Web & Mobile App at United Airlines is responsible for leading the development and implementation of new Airport Operations technology, which is crucial for the airline's growth strategy. This role involves managing a team focused on digital transformation, ensuring the delivery of scalable solutions, and aligning application delivery with business goals. The position emphasizes Agile development practices, solutions architecture, and driving organizational change while fostering collaboration across teams to enhance customer experiences and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end delivery and maintenance of applications, including cloud-based solutions.
• Manage the entire application lifecycle from development through deployment and maintenance.
• Ensure efficient and reliable operations while meeting project budgets, schedules, and quality standards.
• Engage with technical and business collaborators to align application delivery with key business processes.
• Collaborate with business units to prioritize product development and lead key initiatives.
• Maintain relationships with technology vendors to ensure value delivery to the organization.
• Identify technical obstacles and work with the team to find creative solutions.
• Promote the use of automation to streamline processes and improve efficiency across the application lifecycle.
• Ensure Agile processes are implemented and continuously improved.
• Evaluate processes against important metrics to ensure alignment with business goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Computer Science or equivalent.
• Understanding of digital platforms, tools, and emerging technologies (e.g., AWS/Azure Cloud, .NET).
• Experience with full stack tools such as React, Angular, .NET, or SQL.
• Experience supervising critical applications requiring 24/7 operational support.
• Demonstrable experience in leading cloud-native applications and services.
• Proven track record of ownership and successful delivery of projects.
• Ability to prioritize projects based on alignment with business goals.
• Experience in leading digital transformation initiatives.
• Proficiency in managing software development projects with Agile and DevOps practices.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Solid understanding or experience with High Availability systems, App Connect Enterprise toolset, ML, LLM, IoT, and AI.
• Aviation industry knowledge or experience.
