The IT Applications Developer 1,2,3 position at the Teachers' Retirement System of Louisiana (TRSL) involves developing and maintaining information technology applications to support the agency's mission of providing retirement security to the state's teachers. Responsibilities

  • Analyze and develop information technology applications outside the scope of the Office of Technology Services.
  • Follow procedures for coding, compiling, testing, debugging, and documenting applications according to accepted standards.
  • Participate in revisions to user guides and production run books.
  • Perform applications maintenance activities to ensure seamless integration with hardware and other system components.
  • Write and execute database queries, troubleshoot file management issues, and modify account privileges as needed.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the application portfolio and its components to effectively develop applications.
  • Support application systems by analyzing code and performing maintenance tasks.
  • Respond to troubleshooting requests for application components of limited scope and complexity.
  • Assist in resolving application emergencies in consultation with higher-level IT personnel.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree plus one year of experience in information technology.
  • An associate's degree in information technology may substitute for the baccalaureate degree.
  • Two years of experience or training in information technology may substitute for the baccalaureate degree.
  • Candidates without a baccalaureate degree may combine experience or training in information technology and college credit to substitute for the required degree.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SQL Server, Oracle, .Net, C#, JavaScript Frameworks, REST API services, Web API, ASP.Net MVC, or HTML5.
  • Familiarity with content management solutions like P8 FileNet or SharePoint.
  • Experience with workflow design software for business automation.
