About the position

The IT Auditor position is a remote role based in the DMV area, specifically Bowie, MD. This full-time contract position involves conducting audits of clients' IT systems and processes, identifying risks, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The role requires collaboration with audit teams to utilize data analytics and emerging technologies in audit procedures, while also supporting clients in their digital transformation efforts. The position is set to start in early to mid-January 2025 and will last until late August 2025, with the potential for annual recurrence.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare clear and well-structured documentation regarding clients' processes and IT systems, identifying IT risk points and controls.
  • Review clients' IT and business processes against leading practices to identify gaps in design and execution.
  • Execute and document testing of clients' IT and automated controls, providing clear explanations of procedures and results.
  • Support the audit engagement team in utilizing Data and Analytics (D&A) for audits, including data extraction and analysis.
  • Assist in pre and post system implementation assessments and digital transformation reviews.
  • Support project management activities by assessing and reporting status, tracking deliverables, and coordinating action items.
  • Learn and apply new technologies such as cyber, automation, AI, modern ERP systems, and blockchain in audit engagements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Management Information Systems, Accounting Information Systems, or equivalent program from an accredited college or university.
  • Preference for candidates pursuing CPA licensure or CISA certification.
  • Strong technical aptitude and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to navigate MS Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Must reside within a commutable distance to the office and be able to travel using personal means.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with data analysis tools such as Alteryx, SQL, Python, and Power BI.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
