About the position

The IT Auditor at the University of Texas at El Paso is responsible for conducting IT audits to ensure compliance with established state and university regulations. This role involves reviewing data processing systems, controls, and operations, and providing recommendations based on audit findings. The auditor will also assist in the design and development of new information systems and provide computer support to the audit staff.

Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility for IT audits.
• Apply various audit procedures including preparation of internal control questionnaires and audit programs.
• Plan and conduct audit work on assigned audits.
• Review systems, transactions, documents, records, reports, and methods for accuracy and effectiveness.
• Prepare acceptable working papers to record and summarize data on assigned audit projects.
• Prepare findings and recommendations for inclusion in audit reports.
• Participate as an advisor in the design and development of new information systems and major enhancements to existing systems.
• Provide a wide range of computer support to the office and audit staff.
• Comply with all State and University policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Computer Science or related area from a four-year college or university.
• 2 years of IT-related experience, preferably with a government agency.
• Knowledge and proficiency in computer skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience and knowledge of PeopleSoft, Banner, Microsoft 365, Teams, and Zoom.
• Certifications such as Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
